Pregnancy Fetishism & Why It Totally Makes Sense

The used panty marketplace

If you have ever been pregnant or even watched as your very heavily pregnant friend tried to waddle up some stairs or laugh without a bit of pee coming out - you will likely wonder what in the world could possibly be so sexy about pregnancy.

As with every sort of “out there” fetish, there is quite a lot of stigma that comes along with having a fetish for pregnant women. But is it really that weird?

There are many different facets of this fetish, from being turned on by the risk of getting pregnant to men who exclusively seek out heavily pregnant women because of the shape of their bodies.

This fascination with pregnancy, fertility and the female body isn’t new though - really, it dates back centuries. Our interest in pregnancy can practically be traced back to the beginning of humankind.

Think about it: there are countless different ancient deities in various cultures that are symbolic of female fertility and health - and it’s because of this that they were worshipped.

You have Venus in Greek mythology, Jiutian Xuannu in Chinese mythology, Bank-Mundi in India, Anahita in Armenia, Kichijoten in Japan...all of these deities are considered to be goddesses of fertility or pregnancy.

And a quick Google search will let you see some of the other words that are used to describe these goddesses.

Venus is a goddess of sex, beauty and fertility

Jiutian Xaunnu is a goddess of war, sex and living a prosperous life.

Anahita is considered to be the goddess of fertility, wisdom and healing

Kichijoten is the goddess of happiness, fertility and beauty

For centuries, in almost every culture, we have been linking pregnancy and fertility with power, happiness, health, sex, pleasure and beauty.

So...is a pregnancy fetish really that strange?

What is a Pregnancy Fetish?

Maiesiophilia, preggophilia and pregnancy fetishism are all terms coined to describe the sexual paraphilia or fetish of being sexually attracted to or getting sexual arousal from pregnant women - specifically, their baby bumps.

What is it about pregnancy that turns people on?

Well, I’ve scoured a few different confessional websites and found information from real people who have pregnancy fetishes.

These self-proclaimed pregnancy fetishists explain that the allure and attraction to pregnancy can be in things like:

  • The shape of a pregnant belly
  • The idea of impregnating a woman
  • The idea of the woman giving birth
  • A romanticized idea of family or wanting to start a family
  • For men, the power of being able to “control” when to impregnate her
  • The bodily changes that tend to make women more voluptuous: including increased hormones that thicken hair and nails and create a slight “pregnancy glow”
  • The idea of lactation (because break milk fetishism is a thing
  • A desire to get pregnant oneself or being turned on by the thought of being pregnant (referred to as gravidophilia, most commonly experienced by women)

Although the idea of pregnancy has been around since the beginning of time (obviously), there is no denying that mainstream media has normalized, glamorized, some would even say sexualized pregnancy for decades.

One of the biggest turning points in the way our modern society viewed pregnancy was back in 1991 when a heavily pregnant and absolutely stunning Demi Moore appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine completely nude. The positive response to this photograph kind of kick-started a new way of viewing pregnancy.

In today’s society, we talk about pregnancies more openly than we ever have before. Not only that, but we celebrate our pregnancies in a very public way, thanks to the uprise of social media.

We create these big pregnancy announcements on Instagram, we share the progress of our pregnancies through “bumpdate” videos on Youtube and we more or less just celebrate what it is to be a woman in today’s day and age.

On top of this surge in pregnancy celebration, there has also been a surge in porn and the freedom of talking about, watching and sharing it.

We live in a day and age where the blogs like this have some of the most talked-about content out there. I mean, there are now marketplaces dedicated to helping you buy and sell used panties. What a time to be alive.

Considering both the uprise in pregnancy sharing and the new normalcy of internet porn, the fact that pregnancy has been sexualized into becoming an actual fetish seems to completely make sense..

While this may be one of the tamer fetishes (compared to say extreme bondage, knife play or breath play) - it’s still something that many people speculate about and criticize.

While I don’t condone finding and exploiting random photos of pregnant women without their consent (more on that later), once I stopped to think about this fetish, it made total sense to me.

Why It Makes Sense

With some fetishes, there really could be a logical reason why we find those things sexual. For example, that sexy French guy I dated in college who will forever be the reason French is the sexiest language on earth to me. And that stranger I had live cam sex with...he’s more than likely the reason I get off on teasing men.

Sometimes we can pinpoint the things in our lives that make us like what we like. Maybe you’ve had incredible sex with your pregnant wife and want to re-create that by roleplaying as if she’s still pregnant.

A study done by this team of researchers has even suggested that pregnancy/lactation fetishes are more common in older siblings or individuals who have been exposed to maternal pregnancy or breastfeeding during impressionable times in their early development.

While we may never know for certain why we like the things we like, I can guarantee you that pregnancy fetishism is not as uncommon as you think it is! In fact, any of the reasons listed below are very valid reasons for being attracted to pregnant women.

Now let’s talk statistics for a minute.

According to porn-industry analytics, pregnancy-related content searches have sky-rocketed by almost 20% since 2014. In this same set of statistics, they explain that the word “pregnant” was ranked 107th in the most popular searches in the United States on the PornHub website.

This rank was right in the mix with “redhead” and “babysitter” searches...so you can tell just how popular it is.

Let’s take a look at some of the main reasons why this fetish makes perfect sense, from an unbiased point of view.

It’s a Visible Signal She is Likely “Taken”

Do you know that thing where someone who is married suddenly becomes at least 10% more attractive to you? Maybe it’s the commitment, maybe it’s the wedding ring and the challenge, maybe it’s how happy they are...whatever it is, many women agree: married men are hot.

Well, this is the same. This is a very visible sign that the woman is very likely in a relationship, which makes all your dirty thoughts about her that much naughtier.

Pregnancy Turns Women into Warrior Goddesses, Basically

What a woman’s body goes through during pregnancy is nothing short of a damn miracle.

When I was nearing my third trimester, I read this article about how a woman’s internal organs literally rearrange themselves in order to house what will, at the end of your pregnancy, be an entirely formed human being. It’s just incredible. Any woman who can do that with her body is a damn warrior queen.

And to think that this incredible feat is sexy?
I mean, I get it.

It’s Primal

Females were made to bear children, this is a fact. We have the parts for it. And as human beings, we are hired wired to be attracted to fertility and good health. It’s in our very nature.

There is something primal, instinctive and natural about a woman being pregnant - and the male’s ability to make a woman pregnant can make them feel powerful, confident and needed.

It Can Be a Power Thing

Some would say that there is nothing more powerful than a woman who is giving birth to a child.

The strength, emotion, endurance and unconditional love it takes to have a baby can be incredibly intoxicating - and for some people, they want to be dominated by a powerful pregnant badass woman.

It’s Beautiful

Chances are you have heard of the pregnant woman’s glow. While that pregnant woman might tell you that it’s just sweat from trying to tie her shoes at 2 days past her due date - there may actually be some science to the natural, beautiful way women look when they are pregnant.

According to this article by HealthLine, increased levels of estrogen and progesterone are what cause that dewy, stunning glow pregnant women have. These increased hormone levels also thicken hair and nails, which are staples of modern beauty.

Along with this, an increased blood volume during pregnancy can make the skin appear flush (like a natural blush) and the lips appear plumper.

It Can Be A Paternal Thing

Some husbands may be more turned on by their pregnant wives due to the fact that they are about to become fathers.

Pregnant lesbian couple sitting on sofa together in living room at home. Woman kissing her partner.

Wanting children can be a life-long dream for some people - and if you have waited a long time or struggled to get pregnant, you bet there is nothing sexier than the 8 months pregnant woman eating nachos next to you at 3 am.

There’s Just Something About That Pregnant Personality

Pregnant women are beautiful...but terrifying. Getting on her bad side is bound to have her release a hell-storm of hormones on you that you were not at all prepared for...and some people find this incredibly hot.

The defiance, the willpower, the determination and the strength that are activated in a woman when she is pregnant can be incredibly comforting and erotic.

It’s “Taboo”

For many, many people who enjoy the rather “out there” fetishes, much of the appeal lies in the fact that others think it’s strange. Embracing your desire when it’s something out of the ordinary, something “naughty”, something a bit controversial can be a huge turn on.

There Are Plenty of Related Fetishes

There’s erotic lactation, where you are aroused by breast milk (watching women lactate, drinking breast milk, adult suckling, etc). Then there is paraphilic infantilism, the sexual fetish that involves role-playing as an infant.

Compared to some of the other fetishes that are in close relation to this - pregnancy fetishism doesn’t seem that weird, right?

Challenge Accepted

Not only are the majority of pregnant women unavailable (see #1 on this list) - but many pregnant women have high standards or are simply not interested in dating because they are focused on other things (like pushing a 4kg baby out of their lady bits, for example).

This “challenge” to bed a pregnant women is a massive turn on for a lot of people. It’s like having sex with a nun - it probably won’t happen...but how crazy would it be if it did?

What You Need to Know if Pregnancy Turns You On

As with any other kink or fetish, you may be a bit confused about how to get started in turning your fantasy into reality. Whether you’re in a committed relationship, seeking out others who share your fetish or single and wanting to experiment on your own - there are definitely ways for you to indulge in this fetish.

Consent is Key!

Let me make this perfectly clear: taking other people’s photos from their personal social media and posting it on fetish or pornography sites is simply not okay.

Countless women have been sending warnings out online telling other expecting mothers not to share pregnancy photos because they are being stolen and put on preggophilia sites without their permission.

This has happened so many times...you see it here, and here, and here...there are countless women who are sharing their stories about how their baby bump photos have been stolen and shared on fetish websites without their consent.

These are women who are sharing their excitement about becoming new parents with their families and friends through their social media...the last thing they should need to worry about is ending up on a porn website without knowing about it.

While being turned on and eroticizing pregnancy is fine (whatever floats your boat, different strokes for different folks...all that jazz) - stealing pregnancy photos is all kinds of wrong.

Especially when you can search “pregnant” in literally any pornographic website search bar and come across pregnant women who have consented to have their photos/videos used this way.

This is where your fetish is getting a bad wrap, everyone.
Just don’t be creepy.

Is My Pregnancy Fetish Something to Be Ashamed Of?

Well that depends, are you doing something shameful to indulge in your fantasy? If so, then yes. Otherwise, absolutely not!

Fetishes and kinks are nothing to be ashamed of (everyone has them!) - as long as your participating in them isn’t harmful to anyone else and everything is consensual between the parties involved.

Just don’t be like this guy, who took it one giant, creepy step too far and tried to attend a birth class and got himself arrested for making inappropriate advances towards the expecting mothers in attendance.

If you are interested in pregnancy photos, there are entire websites dedicated to CONSENSUAL pornography content. Stealing happy expectant mothers’ bump photos from their social media is a complete violation - and one of the reasons this fetish has been so widely scrutinized.

Ask Yourself This...Why Does it Turn You On?

For some pregnancy fetishists, it’s the thought of starting a family. For others, it’s the allure of a woman who is likely already taken. For others, it’s the power that comes from impregnating a woman. For some women who are pregnancy fetishists, it’s the risk or thought of getting pregnant that revs their engine.

But for others, the fetish may be a bit more removed from the pregnancy itself.

Consider this: maybe you’re just attracted to plus size women.

While the jury is still out over whether “fat fetishes” are offensive or not, if you find yourself attracted to other non-pregnant, plus size women - maybe that’s just your type.

If this is the case, you can maybe branch away from pregnant women to find more easily accessible plus size porn.

Pregnancy Porn Is a Very Big Thing (Bigger than You Think)

If you’re looking to get your rocks off but aren’t currently seeing anyone who is pregnant and able to fulfill your desires - pregnancy porn is very much a thing you need to know about. I’ve mentioned at the beginning of this post that “pregnancy” related porn searches have skyrocketed over the last decade or so...it’s right up there with redheads and babysitter porn.

So, it’s practically a guarantee that you can search “pregnant” or “pregnancy” in any porn website search bar and find some pretty erotic videos to get you going.

Preggophilia...It’s Not Just for Men

On the note of being more normal than you think, I bet you’re also thinking this is most popular amongst men, right? Well...not exactly.

That same survey from PornHub we mentioned above also showed that women were proportionately 27% MORE LIKELY to search for pregnancy-related porn topics compared to men.

Not only can the idea of pregnancy be erotic for women as well, but many female pregnancy fetishists claim that the idea of getting pregnant is what turns them on.

This woman, for example, likes to fantasize that her and her husband are trying to conceive a baby (even though they are not) - and for his own reasons, he likes to finish inside her.

She actually doesn’t share her fantasy with her husband, because it doesn’t really matter. To her, the thought of getting pregnant is the turn on, and she doesn’t even really need her husband to play along with that.

Role-Playing is an Option

If you’re looking to bring this fantasy to life but don’t want to go solo - try involving your partner.

They are not pregnant, you say?
Well, that doesn’t have to be a problem.

Role-playing is a magical tool to whip out in the bedroom when you’re feeling adventurous. If your partner has a pregnancy fetish and you aren’t sure how you feel about it, you can dip your toes into the water and drive them crazy without getting too into the role-play by saying things like “fuck a baby into me” or “cum for me and get me pregnant”...things like that.

If you’re more interested in taking the role-play further and your significant other is turned on by baby bumps, you can always try one of those fake baby bumps and dress it up with some sexy maternity lingerie

Conclusion…

Some fathers would describe pregnancy as beautiful, because it gave them their children. Women who have been through pregnancy themselves might tell you it’s difficult, exhausting, fun, scary and magical. And people who have a pregnancy fetish are going to say it’s sexy or erotic.

Really, none of these statements are wrong. When it comes to fetishes not everyone understands, you shouldn’t feel any shame or embarrassment. There is nothing wrong with enjoying your fetish, even if it’s a bit “out there” - as long as you’re not making your fetish someone else’s problem.

You do you, but don’t be creepy about it - it’s really that simple.
As long as you’re  not running around commenting sexually suggestive things on random women’s pregnancy photos, saying things like “oh juicy mama you’re so fine you’re looking ready to POP, I like that”...then I think you’re doing it right.
