Nine Steamy Netflix Films for you Streaming Pleasure

The used panty marketplace

Netflix is home, quite surprisingly, to some rather raunchy titles that somehow passed the censors and slipped under the radar. From sex scenes to nudity and controversially explicit subject matter, there are indeed some Netflix films out there that are most definitely NSFW (that’s ‘not safe for work’ for us regular, non-internet folk).

Whether you’re in it for the thrills, or you genuinely want to expand your horizons and see some of the hidden gems that Netflix has to offer, you won’t be disappointed with our comprehensive list of steamy Netflix films.

Does Netflix have porn?

First off, we need to answer this burning question.

True, Netflix does have literally thousands of titles available for your viewing pleasure, from films to documentaries, to award-winning series and everything in between. It seems that no genre is unexplored either - with genre-bending shows like the sci-fi techno-Noir mindf*ck that is “The OA” - a Netflix original, to heavy-hitters and fan favorites like “Friends or “The Office” - the streaming giant really does have something for just about anyone.

Except for porn.

Yup, that’s right. Porn might be the one and only genre of show that Netflix is actually missing from its repertoire. Netflix does, however, have what you could call a ‘Late Night’ category. So while it doesn’t have straight-up pornography, it does have a smattering of raunchy films and steamy shows that surely won’t disappoint.

You just have to know where to look.

These types of titles tend to be buried deep within the site - and aren’t likely to be popping up on your recommended list any time soon. This could be due to Netflix’oh-so-mysterious algorithm, but who is to say that your curated recommendations won’t become chock-full of steamy, sexy stories once you’ve watched a few of them?

How to find sexy films on Netflix

So, we know that these films exist, and we know that they are buried deep within the bowels of Netflix. But how do we actually get to them (except for searching for specific titles - some of which we are about to recommend to you in a moment).

An article published by Decider back in 2017 suggests that it’s all down to the magic word: ‘steamy’.

Yes, that’s right. Netflix has subcategories within subcategories - one of which is quite literally ‘steamy’. According to the Decider article, at the time of writing, there were 61 different categories of ‘steamy’. These could be broken down by other criteria, such as subgenre (such as ‘Steamy B-Horror Movies’) or time period (Steamy Crime Movies from the 1980s”).

It seems that there are a plethora of untapped films just waiting to influence your algorithm. Just type in the word ‘steamy’ in the Netflix search bar, and you will see recommended categories presented either above or below the individual titles that show up in the search results. You’ll then be prompted to ‘explore titles related to’ these genre recommendations (like ‘steamy international films’ for example).

So, if you want to find films and tv series - even documentaries - that get you pleasantly hot under the collar, then ‘steamy’ really is the magic word.

But if, on the other hand, digging around inside Netflix’s most intimate areas just sounds like a little too much hard work for you, fear not. We’ve put together a list of 9 of the raunchiest, sexiest and - well - steamiest titles available to stream on Netflix right now!

Are steamy Netflix films X-Rated?

Before we go on to list some of the best steamy Netflix films available for your streaming pleasure, it’s important to bring up the topic of parental guidance, and film categorization

It should also be pointed out that, in some countries, the rating of X is or has been reserved for the most explicit films. Films rated X are intended only for viewing by adults, usually defined as people over the age of 18 or 21. Netflix does not have any films rated as X - but it does have R-rated films (or films rated 18 if you are in the UK), so it is important to look out for these classifications.

In an article in the Telegraph newspaper in 2017 all about Netflix’s - somewhat ‘lax’ parental controls, it was reported that the streaming behemoth had “mislabelled nearly a dozen adult-themed films on its video-streaming platform as appropriate for family viewing.”

Now, it is important to point out that this article is two years old - so presumably, Netflix has had twenty-four whole months to rectify this error. So, naturally, we would assume - and hope-  that they have done so.

But when you’re trusting an algorithm, and that algorithm has been known to make mistakes in the past - you can’t help but start to question the safety or robustness of the parental controls on Netflix.

It wasn’t just a few innocuous films that slipped through the net, either, as the Telegraph reports:

“The films include Rocco, a documentary about an Italian porn star featuring full-frontal male nudity and explicit sex scenes; Below Her Mouth, which Netflix describes as “an erotic examination of a passionate love affair between two women” and rated 18+ itself in Australia according to TV-and-film database IMDB; and Confessions of a Brazilian Call Girl, which contains a "golden shower" scene.”

Now, if you agree that golden showers are something that should remain well and truly for adults-only, then you’ll probably want to take some steps to ensure that you’re enabling the right parental controls - and - monitor what your kids are watching. Period.

How to make your Netflix secure

Now, if you’ve read this far then chances are you’re actively seeking out some steamy, naughty or otherwise explicit films for your Netflix viewing pleasure.

But before you do, it’s always best to make sure you’re taking precautions - especially if there are kids or younger viewers in your household. Here’s how to do it:

  1. 1.Log into Netflix - click on your profile icon, then click Account.
  2. 2.Scroll down to Settings and click on Parental Controls
  3. 3.Enter your Netflix password.
  4. 4.Create a PIN.
  5. 5.Scroll to Restrict by Maturity Level and click on the bubble above your kid’s age group: Little Kids (6 and Under), Older Kids (12 and Under), Teens (14 and Under), or Adults (15+). These restrictions are set according to the MPAA and TV rating systems (i.e., PG-13 and TV-MA).

While these different age group restrictions are all well and good, we’ve already raised the issue of Netflix’s surprising oversight when it comes to adult content. So, in light of this - it might be wise to restrict all titles, regardless of their assigned ‘age group’ - just to be sure.

To restrict all titles - meaning that you have to enter the correct PIN every time in order to watch anything - click the bubble above Little Kids (under ‘Restrict By Maturity Level’). This will give you complete control, as nothing can be watched without you entering the pin.

Nine steamy titles to stream on Netflix right now

Once you’ve set up your account so that it’s safe and protected, it’s time to get watching! After all, sometimes the right movie is all it takes to spice things up (the double meaning of ‘Netflix and Chill’ is a thing for a reason)!

If you really don’t have the patience to trawl through the plethora of subgenres under the umbrella category of ‘steamy’ you can simply search on a title by title basis - as we’ve done a little bit of curation to help you out.

Here is a collection of the hottest, steamiest movies you can find on Netflix right now

#1) Newness

Newness is a romantic drama that focuses on the challenges of keeping love alive today. Nicholas Hoult and co-star Laia Costa meet when they are matched through a dating app. Newness follows their relationship as they try everything to keep the spark alive, first through their passion for each other, then with strippers and threesomes and experimenting with open relationships.

What makes it hot?

The entire film is an exploration of what makes a healthy, satisfying sexual relationship. If that doesn’t do it for you, perhaps the lots and lots of steamy sex scenes will. There are several sex scenes between the main characters - and the opening scene really sets the tone for the rest of the movie! It’s certainly worth a watch

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 6/10
  • Director - Drake Doremus
  • Genre - Romantic drama
  • Starring - Nicholas Hoult, Laia Costa, Courtney Eaton, Danny Huston, Matthew Gray Gubler, Pom Klementieff

#2 Below Her Mouth

Below Her Mouth is the story of a love affair between Dallas (Erika Linder) and Jasmine (Natalie Krill), two women who couldn’t be more different from each other. Dallas is a womanizing heartthrob while Jasmine is an engaged princess type, ready to get married to the man of her dreams. They meet by chance and spark up an affair so passionate it is enough to make anyone blush.

What makes it hot?

This movie treads the line between art and porn, and you could reasonably say that the entire thing is an exploration of sex, sexuality, and pleasure - all wrapped up in a drama that will keep you entertained. There are multiple lesbian sex scenes, plenty of nude breasts, full-frontal female nudity and lots of explicit content. If you’re into hot scenes of girl-on-girl action, are excited by stories of affairs and infidelity, and love full-frontal nudity then this is definitely worth your attention.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 10/10
  • Director: April Mullen
  • Genre: Romantic Drama
  • Cast: Natalie Krill, Erika Linder, Tommie-Amber Pririe, Sebastian Pigott, Melanie Leishman

#3 Sleeping with Other People

You could say that Sleeping With Other People is a standard rom-com. It is an engaging, sexy romp of a movie, starring Allison Brie and Jason Sudeikis as two messed up old friends who lost their virginity to each other before reuniting years later in a sex addicts anonymous meeting. That in itself is a great premise for lots of laughs and sex. Comedy ensues as they naturally drive each other crazy before falling in love like all good rom-com leads should.

What makes it hot?

Sudeikis and Brie have a lot of on-screen chemistry, but that is not the only thing that makes this movie sizzling hot. There is a sexual undercurrent throughout the film, with a lot of depictions of female pleasure, a very elaborate masturbation tutorial, and a lot of foul language. Plus, you’ll also get to see several scenes with Allison Brie in bathing suits and lingerie.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 7/10
  • Director- Leslye Headland
  • Genre - Romantic Comedy
  • Cast - Jason Sudeikis, Allison Brie, Adam Scott, Billy Eichner, Adam Brody, Amanda Peet, Natasha Lyonne, Jason Mantzoukas

#4 Duck Butter

The premise of this movie is quite interesting; two artists meet, strike up an instant connection, then decide to skip right to intimacy by spending 24 hours together. A lot of sex follows, but the good times don’t last too long. They discover each other’s flaws and the relationship goes downhill from there.

What makes it hot?

The sexy chemistry and intimacy between Shawkat and Costa is pretty memorable. There are a number of memorable scenes, including a steamy hot depiction of cunnilingus from behind, as well as plenty of mutual masturbation, moaning, and making out. Another great movie to watch if you enjoy girl-on-girl action, and also on-screen depictions of authentic queer relationships and sexual exploration, then give Duck Butter a try.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 7/10
  • Director - Miguel Arteta
  • Genre - Indie Drama
  • Cast - Alia Shawkat, Laia Costa, Mae Whitman, Hong Chau, Kumail Nanjiani

#5 Y Tu Mama Tambien

This  Mexican erotic drama is a movie is about two teenage friends, Julio (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Tenoch (Diego Luna), who decide to go on a boys’ trip across Mexico. They meet Luisa (Maribel Verdu), a twenty-something-year-old who asks to join them. Since this is a movie about teenage boys (of age, I might add), then it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the types of scenarios that ensue. It’s a movie about the voracious sex drives of young males, and a great movie to boot!

What makes it hot?

There’s plenty to make this movie hot - like Luisa having sex with Tenoch. Or Luisa having sex with Julio. Or even Luisa and Tenoch and Julio having a threesome. Just a lot of sex throughout! An article from Decider even said that ‘it remains a hallmark moment of queer sexuality on film and pretty much the hottest three-way sex scene ever’.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 8/10
  • Director - Alfonso Cuaron
  • Genre - Road Film Drama
  • Cast - Maribel Verdu, Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna

#6 Teenage Cocktail

Teenage Cocktail promises a lot just from its title! You could describe this movie at one of Netflix’s hidden gems. In addition to containing a lot of steamy content - it’s actually a legitimately well-crafted story, receiving 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. One reviewer said, “It's a beautifully made and intoxicating experience that explores the dangerous scenarios that can arise when sex with strangers goes too far.” The story follows two small-town girls, Annie (Nichole Bloom) and Jules (Fabianne Therese), who feel confined by their town and their overbearing parents. So they decide to run away - and turn to webcam ‘ modeling’ (make of that what you will) in order to earn some fast cash. But, they quickly learn that nothing comes easy - and there are consequences to their actions...

What makes it hot?

While there is no real nudity in this movie - the subject matter is pretty hot, and there are implications of sexual activity. No matter which way you dress it up - the mere concept of two teenage girls running away together to become camgirls is a pretty hot concept. You can expect lots of sexual exploration and some mild themes of homosexuality (if not explicit then at least in some way implied). But even without full-frontal nudity or the more explicit elements that you would find in, Below Her Mouth, for example, Teenage Cocktail holds it’s own as a raunchy film that will hold your attention.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 5/10
  • Director - John Carchietta
  • Genre - Thriller Drama
  • Cast - Nichole Bloom, Fabianne Therese, Michelle Borth, Pat Healy, A.J.Bowen, Joshua Leonard

# 7 Cam

While Teenage Cocktail somehow managed to combine a ‘coming of age’ story with the seedy, sexy world of online pornographic performance, Cam has an entirely different flavor. The movie centers around the main character of Alice (Madeline Brewer), who works as a cam girl online. But things take a dark and intriguing turn when, one morning, Alice wakes to find that her identity has been stolen and her account is now being run by a doppelganger who looks and acts exactly like her! Cam is an unsettling thriller about losing your identity online - and while it does contain some sexy elements, it is more of a thrilling tale than it is a raunchy romp.

What makes it hot?

Cam is an unsettling thriller about losing your identity online - and while it does contain some sexy elements, it is more of a thrilling tale than it is a raunchy romp. The movie takes an interesting look at the lives of cam girls and the allure of online sex work, and while there is no sex - there are nude scenes; both topless and rear nudity. There’s also a nice scene with vibrators, featuring an intense orgasm with lots of sexy sounds.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 6/10
  • Director - Daniel Goldhaber
  • Genre - Horror
  • Cast - Madeline Brewer, Patch Darragh, Melora Walters, Imani Hakim, Devin Druid

# 8 Carol

Carol is a sexy story of forbidden love. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara star as two women in the 1950s who become friends, before starting an intoxicating love affair that changes their lives forever. If you’re looking for a raunchy movie, then be warned that this one is more of a legitimate and moving drama. Consequently, you might find that the build-up is a little slow, but the whole affair is treated with such warmth and compassion that it is totally worth the wait.

What makes it hot?

There are love scenes between Blanchett and Mara (naturally, this is a film about forbidden lesbian love, after all) - but they are not overly explicit. In fact, they fall more within the realms of tender and soft than explicit and raunchy. Plenty of kissing and caressing can be seen, and there is implied lovemaking as the two women embrace in bed together and the camera flows over their bodies hidden beneath the sheets but embracing together. Worth a watch if you want real, tentative depictions of romantic lesbian love on screen

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 5/10
  • Director - Todd Haynes
  • Genre - Romantic Drama
  • Cast - Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Sarah Paulson, Jake Lacy, Kyle Chandler

#9 Nymphomaniac

Nymphomaniac is dramatic, intriguing and entertaining, as well as dealing with some pretty steamy subject matter (unless the name wasn’t a complete giveaway). The entire premise of this movie is the exploration of a sex addict’s life experiences, so you can pretty well imagine what sorts of things that might entail. The story is centered around the life of sex-addicted Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and explores human sexuality (and addiction) through her eyes.

What makes it hot?

While this is a movie about nymphomania, it is surprisingly well-done. The hot parts are not over-the-top, but we are still treated to some nice little sexy scenes - like a sex scene with Shia LaBeouf, in which, for two whole seconds, we can see full insertion: It’s in the foreground, but out of focus. We also see a flashback where Joe performs oral sex on a man on a train, and there’s a cunnilingus scene where you can see plenty!  Oh, and there’s also a montage of flaccid penises if you are into that sort of thing.

At a glance:

  • Hotness rating - 6/10
  • Director- Lars von Trier
  • Genre -  Art Drama
  • Cast - Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Stacy Martin, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, Connie Nielsen, Christian Slater

Honorable mentions

While we think that we’ve come up with a pretty solid list - featuring movies that are steamy but also diverse in their intensity and of different genres, we’d be doing our readers a disservice if we didn’t include a few honorable mentions.

Here are some equally sexy Netflix movies that didn’t quite make the list:

9 1/2 Weeks

Kim Basinger and Micky Rourke star become entangled in an intense affair with plenty of sex, passion and a healthy dose of dark obsession to keep viewers engaged with the story

Laggies

Kiera Knightley stars as a woman who starts hanging out with a teenage girl and ends up falling for her father (Sam Rockwell). This one made the list dues to a steamy and quite convincing outdoor and ‘almost public’ sex scene between Rockwell and Knightley
That’s a wrap! We all need ways to get our kink on - whether it’s used panties, fetish clubs or some straight-up vanilla Netflix and Chill. While these movies might not be as explicit as some of the other online offerings, they’re still worth a watch, no matter what you’re into.
